Here’s a prototype (it’s actually the 2nd Micro Portal proto I built) of the Micro Portal, it is basically the core circuit for the more elaborate and also unreleased Portal. The Portal design has some bells and whistles that the Micro does not but the core circuit deserves to be it’s own pedal and I know some of you will prefer the simpler design and the smaller price tag it will carry. The Micro Portal combines a dense, gated and massive sounding square wave distortion/fuzz with two different audio rate modulation effects. The first modulation setting lies somewhere inbetween a ring modulator and a bit crusher. The second modulation setting is best described as a pseudo frequency shifter effect. There is also a setting that gives you the synth-like distortion without the modulation. The controls are SENSITIVITY which sets the threshold of the gating effect, MODE selects either one of the two of modulation effects or just distortion, FREQUENCY selects the frequency range of the modulation and OUTPUT is the volume control and there is a massive amount of volume available.
This is a prototype so it may very well change in both function and control set. I built this prototype because I had sold the other prototype and I wanted to have another to mess around with and reconsider it’s design and possible release.
